What exactly is the Metaverse? In 2021, after Facebook’s parent corporation formally changed its name to Meta, the “metaverse” movement gained much attention on social media, notably in the crypto community. Many blockchain companies believe it is time to have fundamental visualizations of the “metaverse” in order to keep up with the times. Read this article. You will enjoy losing yourself in a “virtual reality” that you had never considered before.
What is Metaverse?
The words “meta” and “verse” combine to form the composite term “metaverse”. The Verse can be interpreted as a universe, which is a specific space. Meta can be thought of as a new form derived from something that already exists. Thus, the metaverse is only a brand-new area developed for humankind’s benefit.
If you enjoy watching movies, you’ve undoubtedly seen Marvel’s “parallel world” films or the virtual reality setting of the well-known film “Matrix.” Metaverse is a concept like those.
This new format can be viewed as a crucial component of the Internet’s upcoming “evolutionary” stage. Instead of interacting on a 2D screen, you will be in a 3D scene on the Internet. In a nutshell, it is the harmony between the Internet and a unique setting that consists of two types:
- The environment of Virtual Reality (VR)
- The environment of Mixed Virtual Reality (MR)
The environment of Virtual Reality (VR)
You can fully interact in a virtual reality (VR) environment that isn’t connected to the real world in any way. This experience is comparable to using a VR headset to play video games.
The environment of Mixed Virtual Reality (MR)
There is no need for a lengthy definition in this situation. Do you recall exploring your city on a bike to find Pokemons for the 2016 video game Pokemon Go? You may have mixed experiences online and offline using MR.
Another illustration is the Microsoft gadget called HoloLens, which reflects pictures or actual objects (like a keyboard) on a surface where you can interact with them in real life.
Any of the two aforementioned varieties of virtual reality can be included in the metaverse. According to Mr Zuckerberg, over the next five to ten years, the owner of this social network may invest tens of billions of dollars every year in the creation of the metaverse. Additionally, Zuck himself has put up a proposal to fill 10,000 posts in Europe in order to support this “project”.
Disney and Microsoft are currently making the same moves and promises. Do you believe this to be accurate or merely another “contemporary marketing tactic”? Continue reading to find out!
Imagine if 2030 is already here.
You are awakened by the alarm at 8:00 AM. Due to the epidemic, individuals have been forced to work remotely since 2020, thus you do not need to travel to the office. After being up until three in the morning “socializing” with your coworkers at a pub, and needless to say, you drank quite a few, getting ready for the day is challenging. About 100 DOGE in total were damaged.
The only distinction is that last night, everything took place while wearing 3D glasses (it can be even 4D and 5D as you can taste the alcohol in your mouth.) What a bizarre, hallucinogenic experience!
Shower, eat breakfast, and get ready for the day’s activities; the team meeting is at 10:00 AM. You choose to start a new enterprise by donning a flashy Emporio Armani suit.
You may now join the virtual meeting with a stylish avatar after asking Siri to choose a suitable suit and paying 0.2 ETH for it. Again, the main distinction is that everything takes place while you’re at home and in a 3D setting. What a miracle it is!
The suit is solely for your avatar in the metaverse, but you may request that the company send the real item to your home. This is another unique feature. It is genuine in the fantastical and fantastical in the real.
Ahead of the schedule, you walk into the “room” for the meeting and spend some time looking through the materials. In fact, Siri will read it aloud for you, and you may always ask for the speed to be changed.
The conference officially kicks off with the arrival of the three partner representatives: Janella from Manila, Felix from Hamburg, and Elisa from Madrid. Your new attire is well-liked by everyone.
Unexpectedly, those reps do not require you to speak their language. Likewise, you do not need to speak either Spanish or English. They converse in their own languages. And thanks to Siri’s automated translation and voice selection, you may hear what they have to say in whatever language you choose.
They keep talking, and you comprehend what they are saying owing to Siri’s voice, intonation, and language adjustments. When you speak to them in your favourite language, Siri responds to them the same way. Simply speak in your preferred language, and Siri will do the rest.
Your working day is conducted entirely in virtual reality as the meeting goes off without a hitch. In fact, you may be in your own room.
You’re celebrating another birthday tonight at “Vampire Bar.” able to “get light.” Once more, you must pick attire for your avatar. And you remember that you still possess a really amazing outfit that is worth approximately $500 in fiat currency that you earned in the game Vampyr using NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) years ago.
You “transform” it into your avatar’s clothes after you check in to the game. You can “dress up” your avatar with a few swipes and clicks thanks to blockchain technology and the advancement of NFTs.
Oh wait, you need to see your mother in Fulham at her home in virtual reality before heading to the celebration. It appears that you must take a trip from Virginia to London, remain there for a few hours, and then travel home. You are not required to travel anyplace, though.
Today in the metaverse, the “Vampire Bar” is as busy and crowded as it always is. You feel slightly less energised after two straight nights of partying. You converse with Chloe, a pretty girl who works in the marketing division, most of the time.
Next month, Chloe plans to purchase a Triumph Bonneville Bobber. A lady riding this type of motorbike is uncommon to witness.
She has been working as a part-time weekend bartender at a bar in “Decentraland” for the past six months to supplement her income, so she is quite thrilled about this purchase.
Don’t be shocked! The Triumph Bonneville Bobber Chloe is referring to is an item for sale (an NFT) in virtual reality, and the cash she makes from her part-time employment there may likewise be used to purchase NFTs. She may even trade it for actual money in the real world if she so chooses.
Without our knowledge, the real world economy has been incorporated into the virtual one. Everyone now works two jobs—one in the real world and the other online.
Much has changed in the globe. Who knows how real Chloe’s experience riding the Triumph Bonneville Bobber may have been had it not taken place in a virtual world.
How are we going to build the metaverse?
Technology advances and transforms at an unfathomable rate. The PC wave of the 1980s came first, followed by the Internet in the 1990s, and finally mobile devices in the 2000s. Will the metaverse be the following wave? One thing to keep in mind is that infrastructure and technology from prior waves will be carried over into subsequent waves. Both the Internet and mobile devices require computers (PCs) in order to operate to their full potential. Both the Internet and mobile devices will be required by Metaverse.
