▶ My Happy Place
My happy life: “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
The average person lives 27,325 days. How many days have you lived? In those days, can you count how many times you have genuinely been happy? According to research, happier people are more successful people.
While handling work, family, and the necessities of modern life, sometimes I feel like the outside world is draining so much energy from me. The last few months have been hectic for me; managing my different businesses and meeting the requirements of my new job.
Most times, I return home feeling so exhausted. Last week, I was going through my to-do list, and when I saw the bulk of pending tasks, I was sad. I work so hard, but I keep running out of time. On several occasions, I have wished we had more than 24 hours in a day.
I NEED A BREAK!!!!
Whenever I notice chaos and negativity in my life, I retreat to my happy place. Here, I release all the stress, worries, and anxiety. It is a place of refueling. Wonderful Sweden! Almost Too Good For A Restless Soul.
Your happy place could be a physical place you could visit or you could imagine it all in your mind. Imaginations sometimes are meant to recharge and make you feel better. You could start by reminiscing on good old memories.
In my case, I think about my childhood days; when I had no worries about life. I think about all the successes I have made in life, including those that might be tagged as insignificant. Those memories bring butterflies to my stomach.
In my happy place, there is no drama from an ex, children, boss, nor neighbors. No hatred, no racism, only love rules.
We were all molded differently. For introverts, they find their happy place when they withdraw from people. Others find theirs when they visit beautiful places and meet new people.
You can also find your happy place when you spend time with loved ones. In my case, I love to tour around the world. The current Coronavirus pandemic is the only reason why I haven’t gone on a trip since this year. But guess what?
As soon as the borders are opened, I’m flying to a new city.
HOW TO DISCOVER YOUR HAPPY PLACE
Do you have an unlived life inside of you? Do you hear a voice calling you to something more? This is the right time to answer that call. Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
To discover your happy place, close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, relax all of your muscles, and clear your mind. Now, ask yourself some tough questions:
What do I want in life?
What brings me joy and fulfillment?
What are the things I do that make me sad? The answers to those questions would direct you on where to start.
Whenever you are tempted to complain about situations you can’t change, don’t do that. Instead, you should be grateful for everything that you have. The truth is that nobody really cares if you’re miserable, so you might as well choose to be happy. After all, life’s better when we’re happy, healthy, and successful.
