To YouTube or Not to YouTube….

YouTube is one of the greatest forms of social media created in the last ten years! Hands down. Of course, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram all provide tremendous contribution, in this article, I am addressing YT (YouTube).
My YouTube Journey
For the last 6 months I’ve slowly been laying the groundwork to begin my YouTube Journey, LOL. I have watched multitudes of ‘How To’ videos on topics from creating content and suggestions on the best equipment to buy and use. How to Build a Home YouTube Studio | LESS THAN $100
The idea of foraging into YT was not new now neither was it something I’d mapped out a feasible path forward on.
The impact of the COVID-19 crisis and the resulting outcomes of dramatically increasing rates of teleworking, tele-education and tele- living pushed me, like hundreds of thousands of others over the edge. Entire YouTube Studio Setup ON ONE DESK.
Why Online Content is Replacing Mainstream TV
For historical context my actions of replacing mainstream TV habits with that of online content had been building for years.
It started with searching for ‘Pro Black’ and Pan-African’ content. I discovered several of the heavy hitters at the time, ‘Umar Johnson’, ‘Tariq Nasheed, ‘RWS Broadcasts’ and via those Blog Talk Radio feeds the honorable ‘Neely Fuller, Jr.’
I devoured their content as well as that from related, similar content creators during the years 2012-2015.
My next phase was pursuing becoming more a lady’s man and/or going the expat path, moving to foreign nations, and romancing beautiful exotic, foreign women.
Here again I devoured hundreds, possibly thousands, hours of content. I re-discovered ‘Tarig Nasheed’, and was introduced to Philippine Dreams and Ricky Velez, to name a few.
In 2016 I began following YouTube content creators who would later become considered the creators for Black Mansoshere.
Later and personally most notable for me, discovered Oshay Duke Jackson, BGS IBMOR, Mumia Obsidian Ali and The Angry Man.
My Motivation
I can honestly say these creators and their cadre of associates, competitors and rivals, continually triggered and stimulated me over the years to reach breakthroughs, realizations, and develop connections integral to my continued development.
In fact, I’ll admit I found answers to 2 or 3 of the most pressing questions on my mind over the years, via the Internet…LOL. Yep, I sure did, and via my consuming content created in or inspired by the black manosphere.
I’m being lighthearted, but discourse between these groups of people helped me uncover more of my truth, my voice and led me tangentially to ever increasing numbers of relevant content creators, related content and outlets.
I began heavily watching and listening to YT before it was as popular and widely accepted as it is now and thus many of my friends and family early on did not understand my fixation.
The potential I saw in this new form of peer-to-peer interaction, the facility for sharing knowledge, news, social discourse, and even merely experiencing relatedness was vast and extremely encompassing.
I feel as though I know some of the content creators from the Black Manosphere or better spoken, feel a strong kinship for some of them after diligently listening to them for days, weeks, months and some of them for years.
My First Real Step
Reflecting back on them now, my current activities are deciding what will be the first real step, to join and host live streams? Only Podcast? Both?
I’ve created several websites over the last few months for personal and business reasons and am brainstorming my way head.
I’m searching for the most optimal way to post content and simultaneously link all my social media outlets in order to generate a synergy and maximize presence of them all.
I’ve dragged my feet for a long time, LOL, so long that my youngest son has already surpassed me.
He, The Pleco Keeper, has already created an impressive body of content and attained a respectable number of subscribers for an 11-year-old who began posting several months ago.
And so, the answer to the question, to YouTube? Or not to YouTube???,
It’ll definitely be To YouTube…..
Look for my content soon and, be ready to like, share and subscribe! LOL
